Personalisation & Proofs

Your dog's name is the most important thing we print, so we take it seriously. Here's how personalisation works, what we can and can't print, and how to see a proof before anything is made.

What you choose

  1. Breed and coat colour from the drop-down on the product page. Unsure? Use our Breed Guide or email us a photo.
  2. Your dog's name, typed exactly as you want it printed.
  3. Product options such as size, shape or colour (for example A4 or A3, heart or bell, Sport Grey or Light Pink).
  4. "Send me a proof" (optional and free) if you'd like to approve the design first.

Name rules

  • Up to 14 characters, including spaces.
  • Letters A-Z, accented letters (é, ö, ñ and friends), spaces, hyphens, apostrophes, ampersands and full stops.
  • Numbers, emoji and other symbols can't be printed. If we spot something we can't print, we'll email you first.
  • We print capitals exactly as typed. "Biscuit" is printed as "Biscuit"; "BISCUIT" as "BISCUIT".
  • One name per portrait. For two dogs, choose the Two-Dog Mug.
  • The name is set in our brand typeface, Fraunces, sized to fit, so longer names print a little smaller.

We check every order by hand

Before any personalised order goes to print, a real person reads it. We look for likely typos ("Bsicuit"), a name in the wrong box, a missing breed or coat, or characters we can't print. If anything looks off, we'll email you and wait for your reply. We'll never "correct" a name without asking, because Mr Wobbles may well be spelt Mr Wobbels on purpose.

Free proofs

If you tick "Send me a proof", we'll email you a digital proof of your design. Nothing prints until you reply to approve it. If you'd like a change, such as a different coat colour or a different capitalisation, just reply and we'll send an updated proof.

  • A proof is a flat digital preview, not a photo of the finished item. Colours on screen vary a little from print.
  • Proofs add a little time, so allow an extra working day or two. In December, please allow for this before the Christmas order dates.
  • If we don't hear back, your order waits. We'll nudge you by email rather than print without approval.

What we can't personalise (yet)

  • Portraits from your photo. Our designs are breed illustrations. We can't add individual markings or redraw a portrait to match your dog.
  • Extra text lines or dates. Each design has one name. If you'd like a second line, tell us, as we're listening.
  • Gift messages. We can't include a printed gift note at the moment, so if you're sending straight to someone, let them know a parcel is coming.

Changing or cancelling an order

Spotted a mistake? Email hello@waggleandink.co.uk straight away with your order number. If the order hasn't gone to print, we can change or cancel it. Once printing has started, we can't. Personalised items aren't covered by the 14-day change-of-mind right, but anything faulty, damaged or not as described will always be put right. See our returns policy.
